This role is central to daily operations—welcoming guests, managing reservations and billing, coordinating with managers, and supporting programs and events—while also overseeing housekeeping, laundry, grounds care, and vendor coordination. Job Title: Live-In Innkeeper (Couples Welcome) – Retreat Center
Location: Asheville, NC
Employment Type: Full-Time, Live-In
Compensation: $30,000 – $37,000 per person (DOE) + private on-site housing (utilities + Wi-Fi
included)

Role Summary

We are seeking a dedicated couple to serve as full-time, live-in innkeepers at a Holistic Retreat
Center in Asheville, NC. The innkeepers will be at the heart of the retreat center, combining
hands-on assistance, management, hospitality, and property oversight while working closely
with the other Department Managers. This role offers a unique opportunity to live on-site at a
serene nature-based property with trails and be an integral part of creating a welcoming and
peaceful experience while promoting and exemplifying wellness for all guests. We are a
non-smoking and drug-free center.

Work Schedule per Person

  • Typical Hours: 35–60 hrs depending on organizational needs
  • Work: 8–12 hrs/day –
  • Weekday/Weekend coverage as authorized to ensure guest support, events, and
    property oversight
  • On-Call: Required for emergencies outside scheduled hours

Key Responsibilities

Tasks will be shared and divided between the couple.
Example: One partner manages weekday admin tasks, the other handles housekeeping, while
both attend to guest check-ins and emergencies.

Guest Experience & Operations:

• Provide exceptional, personalized service for all guests throughout their stay including
events and program activities on campus.
• Manage reservations, billing, reporting and monitoring budgeting
• Maintain consistent and professional guest communications
• Uphold organization standards, policies and ensure guests adhere to property rules

Housekeeping & Property Maintenance

• Housekeeping and laundry operations
• Property maintenance & grounds assistance – supports the upkeep and general
maintenance of the retreat center’s grounds and facilities. This role supports and in
partnership with supervision of the Maintenance & Engineering Manager to ensure that
all areas of the property are safe, functional, and well-maintained. Example: Assist with
Landscaping (leaf blowing etc.) as needed
• Assist with vendors when applicable
• Ensure cleanliness, readiness, and inviting ambiance throughout the property

Safety & Risk Management

• Conduct and document regular/daily safety inspections and drills.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, fire, and local health codes.
• Serve as the on-site contact for emergencies, ensuring prompt communication with
leadership.
• Maintain emergency binders, first-aid kits, and evacuation protocols.

Administrative

• Maintain supply inventories
• Operate efficiently within:
• ResNexus, Airbnb & other Property Management Systems
• QuickBooks (basic accounting)
• Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
• Basic knowledge of Word Press
• Comfort using digital calendars, and property management tools
• Human Resources & Leadership
• Oversee and support part-time staff, contractors, and volunteers.
• Assist with other Department Managers in training, scheduling, and adherence to
Sanctuary policies.
• Support employee relations and morale; escalate issues appropriately.

• Experienced in hospitality, property management, or guest services
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Comfortable living on-site and managing a dynamic work environment
• Able to work collaboratively as a couple while maintaining professionalism

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Tourism and/or Business Administration
• 4+ years of experience as an InnKeeper and/or Hospitality Management
• Servsafe Manager Certification preferred
