Class Information: We Are the Gita: Inspired Writing for Joyful Living
Join writer and yogini, Gillian Culff, in a series of writing exercises for self-reflection, inspired by the classic Indian text the Bhagavad Gita. We’ll use the story of the Gita as an allegory to notice ingrained behavior patterns and consider ways to live more fully and happily. Be prepared for a combination of storytelling, writing, and discussion. You’ll leave with techniques that will help you to develop equanimity in stressful situations. Please bring a journal or notepad and a pen.
You will learn:
- key moments in the story of the Gita
- writing exercises for self-reflection
- powerful techniques for joyful living, such as mantras, meditations and mnemonics to aid in making decisions with the heart instead of the head, connecting to spirit, handling whirling emotions, acting from a place of authenticity, and healing damaged relationships from a place of gratitude.
Gillian Culff has been a professional writer for nearly two decades and has taught creative writing for eleven years. Her work has been anthologized and published in national and local publications in Hawaii, where she has lived for the past twenty years.
