Class Description: Learn to relax and find stillness, peacefulness, a relaxed heart and easy joy through guided meditation. Techniques from yoga and other traditions will be used, but the focus will be on resting into the natural space of being. Come with or without experience, class start from square one. Wear comfortable clothes for sitting and lying down.
In this class participants will:
- Enjoy approximately 30 minutes of guided relaxation while lying down, and 30 minutes of seated meditation.
- Reconnect to body, inner world, and relaxed, open states.
- Experience the difference between identification with mind, and the simple experience of being.
- Learn practices that translate easily to a home practice, and ways to relax even in a single moment.
Kris teaches various styles of yoga around Asheville, as well as healthy living from a yogic perspective, more in depth explorations of the potential of meditation and different yogic paths. She enjoys the exploration of the subtle body and meditation through deeper inquiry, through sound, music, mantra, and kirtan. Kris has a masters degree in public health and is a registered yoga teacher with formal training in vinyasa, yin, and yoga nidra, and a background in psychology and counseling, health, disaster response, and international conflict negotiation.
