Shelli Stanback, President

Shelli is an Integrative Somatic Practitioner and Holistic Education event coordinator living in Asheville, NC. She started her career as a counselor for at-risk teens and trained as a first responder at a We Care crises center.  She developed programs for retreats and school systems geared toward connecting students to their inner strength and the natural world around them. Shelli has led classes and trainings in transformational arts with children, teens, and adults for 30 years. Some of the empowerment topics include: Sensational You and Power of Movement, Perfection is in the Practice, Emotions in Motion, and Women in Motion. In addition to group work, Shelli has worked as a healing arts therapist for individual clients. She currently teaches personally-developed body-mind-emotion-spirit life enhancement programs. Regional conferences focusing on women’s health have invited Shelli to speak and lead “learn”shops.

Shelli’s education and certifications include: BA in Integrative Movement from Goddard College in Vermont, two-year training in art therapy, three year Ministry “Art of Healing Professional Training program”, Polarity Therapy, Massage Therapy, Gentle Bio-energetics, Essential Oils and Medicinal Herbs, Scenar Therapy, and Nia Black Belt. She has advanced trainings in: Meditation, Conscious language, Frame Drumming and Ceremony, Sweat Lodge apprenticeship, Expressive Arts, Authentic Movement, Body-Mind Centering, Power of Ceremony and Subtle Body Healing Techniques.  Shelli believes in the Whole Person-Whole Planet approach to healthy living.

Dr. Brian Lewis, Treasurer
Brian was born in Greensboro, North Carolina and pursued his undergraduate studies at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he majored in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. He then was accepted into medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill. He also received a Masters in Public Health focusing on health care leadership, health education, and community-based clinics. His residency for Family Practice was completed in Asheville, NC.

After completing residency, he modeled a faculty development fellowship centered on Integrative Medicine and worked with other residents across the country to provide affordable fellowships in Integrative Medicine. He continues to work with integrative practitioners to foster collaboration and innovative practice models for making integrative and holistic medicine accessible and sustainable. He has spoken regionally on topics ranging from mindful movement to understanding the healthcare system, and has served as the medical director for regional Integrative Medicine conferences. He views lifestyle approaches as the foundation of sustainable healthcare.

Some of Brian’s additional studies include: Chinese Medicine, Qigong, Yoga, Meditation, Himalayan and Tibeten healing methodologies.

Christina Morrison, Secretary
Christina received a BA in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has worked professionally as a Licensed Massage Therapist. At the Crossings Wellness Spa in Austin, Texas, Christina worked as a Therapist Trainer, practitonr and developed some of the most popular spa treatments. At the Lake Austin Spa Resort, a top five international spa, she performed over 33 different services. She worked as an Expressive Dance Instructor for 11 years and participated in several festivals and conferences as a workshop leader, event co-producer, and performing artist.

For the past twenty years, Christina has performed freelance work as a writer and editor. Her jobs have included grant writing for the Teaching Garden Foundation, editing personal and business websites and freelance interview, prose and poetry writing for books and journals. Christina’s additional trainings include Continuum Movement, Contact Improvisation, Movement Therapy, Polarity Therapy, Craniosacal Therapy, Ayurvedic Massage, and Advanced Bodywork training at the top training institutions in the United States. She currently lives in Asheville and works as a Scenar Therapist using electromagnetic biofeedback therapy for pain relief and energy balancing.

Joshua Canter
Joshua is an educator, facilitator, and consultant, whose mission is to support people interested in exploring and learning about the many facets of living in community. He is the co-founder of the True Nature Community and Education Center (truenaturecommunity.org) in Costa Rica and The CREER Service Organization (creerbelieve.org). Through his work he hopes to help people discover how they can create ways of holistic living filled with connection, support, and interdependence. When Joshua is not living in Costa Rica he resides in Asheville, North Carolina, where he is the co-leader of the Asheville Communities Network (ashevillecommunitiesnetwork.com).
